OK, so I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about this movie recently. From what I garner, Oblivion is a very divisive movie: there are some who say it sucked hard, and there are some who said it was “the best movie this year”. So I’ve decided to publish my own opinion on it.

In summary, I don’t agree…

I agree with almost everything you said except the ‘Bella Swan’ aspect. None of the women are like her, but they do lack character development, especially Jack’s wife Julia. I felt nothing for her, however Victoria I felt really sympathetic towards. She did not show her feelings or thoughts because she was to afraid to screw up her chance to make it to the other world. She loved Jack, but I liked how it was complicated. The reason why Jack#1 didn’t go with Victoria is because he had his memories. Jack #2 did not until the two clones met.

Jack #1 and Jack#2 had the same life but, even if they are clones they did make different choices. They aren’t entirely the same person and that’s what bothered me about the end. How can Julia be okay with replacing her original husband? I understand they are genetically the same person but it felt like if your toy broke you buy the same one sort of deal. I did not like that. Not to mention they’re are all sorts of Jack’s and Victoria’s all out of the radiation boarders. Some parts of the film were lacking, but the visuals, music/sound effects, even Jack’s character were really well done…even if I really dislike Tom Cruise.
